Support for Families and Children from volcano disaster in Goma

We are raising money to assist with the relief efforts related to the ongoing crisis after the Nyiragongo Volcano erupted on Saturday 22th May 2021 without warning.  Goma is a beautiful lakeside town just on the outskirts of the Virunga National Park, home to about 1.5 million people in Eastern Congo.

While the initial lava flow stopped short of the city center, hundreds of earthquakes have rocked the area, the death toll is estimated at about 35 so far, and the eruption destroyed essential water, electricity and road infrastructure for the city.  The volcano continues to threaten further activity, which prompted the evacuation of about 400,000 people on Thursday May 27th .

Since last week, families are beginning to return to their homes. Many of their homes have been broken into and looted, others have not withstood the effects of the earthquakes and others (who are living North outside of Goma) are completely destroyed by lava. Parents have been out of employment for couple of weeks and many may come back to a job that may not be there anymore. There are also many missing children, because families were separated during the scramble to evacuate.

Please join us with your contribution in order to give hope to these victims of volcano eruption and the ongoing crisis in the region. Donate by giving to: https://flammedavenir.org/donate/

The money will help the victims to survive, cure they wounds, give them basic medical help, deliver food and basic products for them and help to rebuild their houses.
